Good afternoon and thanks for joining me to catch up on the LPA!

It’s good to see Panorama is into full swing for the summer. We are pleased to report a safe Memorial Day holiday on the lake despite windy conditions and temperamental weather. July 4th is just around the corner and will hopefully provide you with a long weekend of sun and celebration.

From an operational perspective, I would like to let you know things are moving along at a good pace. Our maintenance department is busy preparing over nine miles of road for the seal coat contractor. This project is expected to be completed in either late June or early July. Please show your appreciation for our staff by slowing down as you drive by. We appreciate your courtesy as you pass through our work zones.

Progress at the water plant is slightly behind schedule but is no cause for concern. We are very pleased with how the finished product is coming together and look forward to showing it off at an open house later this summer. This is truly a cornerstone of our infrastructure and is on track to becoming a reliable, long term asset for the community.

I would like to request the membership attempt to conserve water over the next two weeks as we transition from our old hardware to our new hardware. We don’t expect any problems but would appreciate common sense conservation from the members to ease the burden on our system during this phase of the process. Simple adjustments like avoiding laundry or car washing during the weekend can make a big difference.

The Security department has been assisting the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Department on two break-ins this spring. We certainly don’t want to cause a panic amongst the membership but do want you to be aware of any strange vehicles in your neighborhood. Tips from the membership are invaluable in promptly solving these investigations. Security may be reached at 641-755-3101. (Call 911 in the event of an emergency.)

I am pleased to report the LP West Golf Course has received a strong response to our new member discount. If you were not a member of the LP West (Par 3) Golf Course in 2010, then please give some thought to taking advantage of our special prices for 2011. New member rates are: Family-$250 Couple-$210 Single-$135 Student-$35

If you need a last minute boat sticker, the office will be open on Saturday, July 2nd from 9:00 am until Noon. (All dues and assessments must be current before you can purchase your stickers.) Please remember LPA also sells fishing licenses which are required for fishing on Lake Panorama. DNR has enforced this requirement in the past and will likely continue to do so throughout 2011. Stop by the office and we’ll help make sure you have the appropriate licenses to enjoy some angling.

In closing, I wish you a happy 4th of July! Please mark your calendar for the Fireworks Show on Saturday, July 2nd at Dusk. There’s no better show around!

Take care,
John Rutledge
GM – LPA
